Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to my housing if I'm fired as superintendent?
Superintendents who received their unit as a condition of employment are not protected by the RTA. The employer can require you to vacate with reasonable notice (typically matching employment notice requirements). However, the terms of your employment contract matter.
Does the RTA apply to superintendent units?
Generally no, if occupancy was a condition of employment. However, if you lived in the unit before becoming superintendent, paid full market rent, or the unit wasn't truly tied to employment, RTA protections may apply. These situations are complex.
How much notice before a superintendent must vacate?
There's no set rule. Courts have found 1-3 months reasonable depending on length of service and circumstances. If you dispute the notice period or whether RTA applies, seek legal help immediately to protect your rights.
How long will my LTB case take?
Current processing times vary 3-12 months depending on application type and urgency. We work to move your case forward as efficiently as possible.
