What are the steps in Small Claims Court?
File claim, serve defendant (20 days to respond), defence or default judgment, mandatory settlement conference, trial if not settled, judgment, enforcement if needed.
Do I have to go to court?
You must attend Settlement Conference and Trial. If you hire us, we can attend most proceedings on your behalf.
What costs can I recover if I win?
Filing fees, service costs, and portion of legal fees (up to 15% of claim). Interest on judgment also awarded. We pursue full cost recovery.
What happens at a settlement conference?
A deputy judge reviews both sides and encourages settlement. Many cases resolve here. If not, trial is scheduled. We prepare you thoroughly for both outcomes.
