What counts as landlord harassment in Ontario?
Harassment includes: repeated unwanted contact, entering without notice, threats or intimidation, removing your belongings, shutting off utilities, refusing to do repairs as retaliation, or any conduct meant to pressure you to leave.
How do I prove landlord harassment?
Document everything: save texts, emails, voicemails. Keep a dated log of incidents. Get witness statements from neighbours. Photograph any damage or unauthorized entry. Report serious incidents to police. This evidence supports your T2 application.
What can the LTB do about landlord harassment?
The LTB can order: the landlord to stop the harassing behavior, compensation for damages you suffered, rent abatement, and in serious cases, fines against the landlord. You may also be able to terminate your tenancy if conditions are intolerable.
How long will my LTB case take?
Current processing times vary 3-12 months depending on application type and urgency. We work to move your case forward as efficiently as possible.
