What disputes does the CAT handle?
The Condominium Authority Tribunal handles disputes about condo records access, pet restrictions, vehicle parking/storage, noise and nuisance, and compliance with governing documents.
How does the CAT process work?
CAT uses a three-stage online process: negotiation (free), mediation ($50 fee), then adjudication ($125 fee). Most disputes resolve before adjudication. The process is designed to be accessible.
Can my condo board ban pets?
It depends on the condo declaration. If the declaration prohibits pets, the restriction is generally enforceable. If only the rules restrict pets, the restriction may be challengeable as unreasonable.
Can I access my condo corporation records?
Yes. Owners have the right to access most condo corporation records within 30 days of request. If denied, the CAT can order disclosure. Some records require fees for copies.
